Using Auto Fill in Calc-
When
you have a lot of data to enter into your LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet and that
data consists of same type of repeatable pattern or sequence, you can save time
by using AutoFill. To use AutoFill, you select the cell or cells that already contain
an example of what you want to fill than drag the fill handle. The fill handle
is the little black plus shape in the lower-right corner of the selected cell
or range.
You
can automatically fill cell with data with the Auto Fill commended or the Series
commanded.
Auto Fill automatically generates a data series based on a defined pattern.
- On a worksheet, click in a cell and type a number.
- Click in another cell and then click back in the cell where you typed the number.
- Drag the handle in the bottom right corner of the cell across the cells that you want to be fill, and release the mouse bottom.
- The cells are filled with ascending numbers.
Note:
- To quickly create a list of consecutive days, enter Monday in a cell, and drag the fill handle.
- When Auto Fill is used on a range of two or more cell containing numbers, AutoFill attempts to determine the interval between them and continues filling using that same pattern. For example, if the two selected cell contain 2 and 4, the next adjacent cell would be filled with 6.
- Hold down Ctrl if you do not want to fill the cells with difference value.
- The AutoFill function also recognized customized lists that are defined under LibreOffice- Preferences Tools – Option – LibreOffice Calc – Short Lists.
