Inserting, Deleting, and hiding Rows, column and Cell in LibreOffice Calc


Inserting Row ,column and cell in Calc Sheet–

Select the column or row where we want to insert new one and go to Sheet menu select insert cell (ctrl+(+) or

Right click on the cell, choose insert option, the insert cell dialog box will appear . Here select any one of the following which you want and click on OK button

Shift cell down:- Move the content of the selected range downward when cells are inserted

Shift cell right:- Move the content of the selected range to the right when cell are inserted

Entire row:- Insert a row. The position of the row is determine by the selection on the sheet. The number of rows inserted dependent on how many rows are selected. the content of the original rows are moved downward

Entire Column:- Insert a column. The number of column to be interested is determine by the Selected number of column. The contents of the original columns are shifted to the right

Note:- We can also insert Row/column by using sheet menu or by right clicking on row and column.

To insert Row:- Go to sheet menu >select insert rows>Rows above/Rows below

To insert column:- Go to sheet menu>select insert column >column before/column after

Deleting Row, column and cell in Calc Sheet –

Select the column or row or cell which you want to delete.

Method 1:

Go to sheet menu select delete cell (ctrl+(-) or right click on cell select delete option then delete cell dialog box will appear. Here choose any one of the following which you want and click on OK button.

Shift cells up:- Fill the space produced by the deleted cells with the cells underneath it.

Shifts cells left:- Fill the resulting space by the cells to the right of the deleted cells

Delete row:- After selecting at least one cell , deletes the entire row from the sheet

Delete column:- After selecting at least one cell, delete the column from the sheet

Method 2:

You can also delete Row/column by using sheet menu.

To delete Row:- Go to sheet Menu> select delete row

To delete column:- Go to to sheet Menu select delete column

Method 3:

Right click on the column or row header and select delete column/Row from pop up menu.

Hide/Show Rows, column and sheet in Calc-

To hide /show rows/columns-

A) Select the rows and columns that you want to hide

B) Then go to Format Menu>select Rows/columns/Hide/show

C) To Show the hidden row/column, first select the before and after row or left and right column of hidden row/column, then Right click on it and choose Show Row/Show Column option.  OR go to Format>Row/Column>Show.

To hide/show sheet whenever more than one sheet are available that you can hide/show sheet.

Go to sheet menu -select hide sheet/show sheet.
