Sorting & Filtering in Calc Spreadsheet


Sorting and Filtering of data is most important tools of Calc spreadsheet for better result according to your requirement. Sorting and filtering in Calc can be accessed using the sort and filter section in Standard toolbar and data menu. The sorting tool allows you to sort by date, number, alphabetic order and more. Filtering tool in Calc spreadsheet facilitate you to filter your data according to your requirement.

To Sorting Data-

To sort your data select the range that you want to sort, then Go to the Data menu>>Sort, a sort dialog box will appear where you can set sort criteria like ascending/descending according to your requirement.

To Filtering Data-

Filters and advanced filters allow you to work on certain filtered records of a data range. In the LibreOffice spreadsheets there are various possibilities for applying filters.

Steps to the filter data in a LibreOffice Calc-

You can filter your data by selecting the range and use following method that you want.

Method 1:- To Use Auto Filter:

Go to the Data Menu>Filter>Auto Filter.

When we use auto filter in that case triangular shape button will appear on the field name of the selected range. We can click this button to filter the data from the Calc spreadsheet.

If we want to filter the record according to certain criteria or condition then we use standard or advanced filter.

Method 2: To use advanced Filter.

Go to Data Menu>filter>> Standard filter or Advanced Filter. A dialog box will appear; you can set the desired filter criteria according to your Requirement.


In this dialog box, Select filter criteria shown in figure & click on ok button.
