Label 1- This level IoT system has a single node or device that performs sensing and actuation, stores data, performs analysis and host the application.
- This level consists of air conditioner, temperature sensors, water level sensors, air composition sensors, video camera for surveillance, voice or sounds sensors, pressure sensor, humidity sensors, infrared sensors, vibration sensors, data collection and analysis and control & monitoring app
- The data sense in stored locally
- Data analysis is done locally.
- The data generated in this level application is not huge.
- All the control actions are performed through internet
Level 2- A level-2 IoT system has a single node that performs sensing and/or actuation and local analysis. Data is stored in the cloud and the application is usually cloud-based. Level 2 IoT system are suitable for solution where the data involve is big however the primary analysis requirement its not computationally intensive and can be done locally. This level consists of air conditioner, temperature sensors big data cloud and control & monitoring apps. Level 2 is more complex compared to level 1.
Level 3- A level 3 IoT system has a single node. Data is stored and analyzed in the cloud and the application is cloud based. These level system are suitable for solutions where the data involved is big and the analysis requirement are computationally intensive. Data analysis is done on the cloud side and based on analysis control action is triggered using mobile app or or web app.
Level 4- A level 4 IoT system has multiple nodes that perform local analysis. Data is stored in the cloud and the application is cloud based. It contains local and cloud based observer nodes which can subscribe to and receive information collected in the cloud from IoT devices. This type of IoT system are suitable for solutions where number of nodes are considerably high, the data involved is big and the analysis requirements are computationally intensive.
Level 5- A level 5 IoT system has multiple end nodes and one coordinator nodes. The end node performs sensing and/or actuation. The coordinator nodes collect data from the end node and send it to the cloud. Data is stored and analyzed in the cloud and the application is cloud based. Level 5 IoT systems are suitable for solutions based on wireless sensor network in which the data involved is huge and the analysis requirements are computationally intensive.
Level 6- A level 6 IoT system has multiple independent end node that perform sensing and/or actuation and send data to the cloud. Data is stored in the cloud and the application is cloud- based. The analytics component analyses the data and store the result in the cloud database. The result are visualized with the cloud-based application. The centralized controller is aware of the status of all the end nodes and send control commands to the nodes.
